High Voltage Course
A switchgear is a general term which includes all the switching devices associated with mainly power system protection. It also includes all devices associated with control, metering and regulating of electrical power system. Assembly of such devices in a logical manner forms a switchgear.
On board ship, electrical power drives everything from Navigation System, command and control System, essential service system, life support system and activities on the ship. As such, electrical power is important to the safety and lives of the crews and passenger in a sailing ship.
Standards of Training, Certification, Watch-keeping of seafarer (STCW) 2010 Manila amendments reiterate the importance of training for the Seafarer and the need for seafarer to be certified competence in the different areas of their responsibilities by Jan 2017.
Assets Training & Technical Services Pte Ltd (ATTS) is the first in South East Asia to be an approved training provider by Maritime Coastguard Agency (MCA), UK to conduct 5 days High Voltage Training at Management Level and this course is developed within the framework of Merchant Navy Training Board (MNTB). This course will essentially meet the requirement under MCA directive MIN 423 (M).
Assets Training & Technical Services Pte Ltd is also approved by Maritime Port Authority of Singapore to conduct the 3 days Operation level High Voltage Training and 5 Days Management level High Voltage Training. These courses will meet the requirement under the directive MPA 10 of 2014 circular to Ship owners.
Our courses meets the requirement of STCW for High Voltage and the target audience is the serving Marine Engineer Office Class 1, 2 & 5, Marine Electrician, ETO, Marine Engineer surveyor, Marine superintendent who may be expected to supervise and/or implement on-board HV switching operation as an Authorised person; and a revalidation of Second and Chief Engineer officer COC.
